N.Sutter FIDELIS NS02B All Black — Fixed Blade Knife, Black-Coated Alleima 14C28N Steel, Black G10 Handle, Kydex Sheath
Overview
The N.Sutter FIDELIS NS02B All Black is the total black tactical version of the compact fixed blade FIDELIS by Swiss knifemaker N.Sutter. It fully retains the mechanics, dimensions and noble materials of the line — Alleima 14C28N steel (formerly Sandvik), black G10 scales, fitted Kydex sheath — and dresses them with a black coating on the blade for an integral "All Black" aesthetic signature.
With its 145 mm overall length, 70 mm blade and featherweight 137 g, the FIDELIS NS02B is designed as a compact outdoor utility or a neck knife carried as a backup on pack or belt. It ships with a fitted Kydex sheath including a Kydex clip and a neck chain for maximum carry flexibility.
Like the entire N.Sutter line, each FIDELIS carries an engraved individual serial number — the piece's unique identity card, a guarantee of authenticity and a strong collectibility argument. The "Knives of excellence" signature sums up the philosophy: demanding materials, precise execution, timeless style.
Why the All Black Version?
- Maximum visual discretion: non-reflective black blade — an asset in dark environments, photography, discreet handling, professional field use.
- "Total black" aesthetic signature: knife + handle + sheath uniformly dark — full visual coherence, bold modern tactical look.
- Enhanced anti-corrosion protection: the black coating adds an extra barrier on the 14C28N steel (already excellent in corrosion resistance), particularly useful in frequent wet use (outdoor, wet-weather hunting, seaside, operations in humid zones).
- Match with tactical gear: pairs perfectly with belts, holsters, packs and jackets in black or dark tones — homogeneous signature for a complete kit.
- Catalog differentiation: few Swiss fixed blades offer a fully coated version at this price level — a distinctive piece.
Alleima 14C28N Steel — A Knifemaker's Choice
The Sandvik 14C28N (renamed Alleima 14C28N after the Sandvik group split) is a premium cutlery-grade stainless steel developed specifically for high-quality blades. Its worldwide-recognized strengths:
- Excellent edge retention for a stainless steel — typical hardness 58-62 HRC
- High ductility — impact and torsion resistance superior to ultra-hard steels
- Excellent corrosion resistance — true stainless, no compromise
- Remarkable sharpenability — resharpens easily, even in field conditions
- Fine grain — allows a very clean and durable edge
On the NS02B All Black version, this premium steel is protected by a surface black coating that further extends corrosion resistance while providing the visual discretion sought in tactical and outdoor use.

Care and Sharpening
- 14C28N is a true stainless steel: low corrosion sensitivity, tolerates humidity well — a simple wipe after wet use is sufficient.
- The black coating adds an extra layer of protection — the NS02B is particularly suited to prolonged humid environments.
- Occasionally oil the blade (fine cutlery oil or Ballistol) for prolonged use in very humid or saline environments.
- Sharpen with a fine ceramic stone (grit 1000/3000) or a guided system — recommended angle ~20° per side.
- Coated blade: sharpening removes the black coating on the cutting edge itself (normal behavior) — creating a fine silver line that shows the sharpening. No impact on cutting performance.
- The black coating may show more visible marks when cutting abrasive materials — normal, giving the knife a use-patina over time.
- Kydex sheath: rinse periodically with clean water to remove debris — dry completely before reinserting.
- Knife cleaning: microfiber cloth + fine oil. Avoid dishwashers and aggressive cleaners.
